We operate an NCDEQ permitted composting facility on our farm in Marshall, NC approximately 30 minutes north of downtown Asheville.

• We partner with haulers and food processors to accept pre-consumer food scraps only.

• Our facility is not open to the public for food scrap drop-off but we can arrange weekly or on-call pickup options.

WHAT WE COMPOST.

Because we craft compost suitable for organic agriculture, we are limited on what we accept:

 ACCEPTED ITEMS :

• Pre-consumer food scraps (spoiled produce from food processors/retailers)

• Vegetative agricultural by-products & mushroom residuals

• Spent plant material from beverage industry (tea, brewers grain, coffee grinds, etc…)

• Leaves, sawdust & pre-ground woodchips

NOT ACCEPTED :

• Post-consumer scraps from residential/restaurant sources (high rates of contamination)

• “compostable products” (they are not organic)

• Manures, Meat & Biosolids (high rates of pathogens)

• General yard debris, branches or stumps (requires pre-grinding)
